The 29th of November 2018, I attended the Fourth Annual T.M.C. Asser Lecture that took place at the Academy Hall of the Peace Palace in the Hague. Many people working in the human rights field in the Netherlands – not only in academia, but also people working at different Ministries, NGOs and other institutions – were present. I felt truly honored that I was invited by the Netherlands Network for Human Rights Research (NNHRR), and it was great to see so many colleagues.

The 24th of November 2018, I successfully completed the course ‘Social Norms, Social Change’ of the University of Pennsylvania and UNICEF. I already came across the work of prof. Christina Bicchieri during my PhD research about Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting (FGM/C) in Senegal. I studied her work in relation to social norms (“the rules that glue societies together”) and refer to her theory in my own research.

The 23rd of November 2018, I presented at the ‘1st Elimination of Violence Against Women Conference’ organized by Middlesex University Mauritius. This conference was organized in support of the UN’s International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.

The 20th of November 2018, I gave a guest lecture at Middlesex University Mauritius. I was invited to speak about my experiences working as an independent consultant in the field of human rights. The aim was to give law students, both at the bachelor and master level, examples of the many diverse employment possibilities in the legal field.

From the 29th of October until the 4th of November 2018, I was in Israel for a business trip. The main reason for my visit was a research project that I am currently developing in relation to the successful elimination of Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting (FGM/C) in Israel.
