Can states try to change the hearts and minds of people? What relevant parameters have international human rights institutions identified so far? These questions were addressed during a conference entitled 'Positive state obligations concerning fundamental right and changing the ‘hearts and minds.’ This conference took place at Woudestein Campus of Erasmus University Rotterdam.

Together with Dr. Refaat Karim (plastic surgeon) I visited the clinic Women Safe in Paris upon invitation of Dr. Pierre Foldès. He is the founding father of clitoral reconstructive surgery after Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting (FGM/C). We started early morning with a cup of coffee and moved into deep discussions from the very first minute we met.

In light of our mission to create a knowledge platform about clitoral reconstructive surgery, we organized a focusgroup discussion with survivors of Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting (FGM/C) in the Netherlands to find out what information is currently missing as input to develop a flyer.

I was honoured to give a webinar about clitoral reconstructive surgery after Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting (FGM/C) together with the founding father of the surgery: Dr. Foldès upon invitation of the End FGM EU Network. Since there is a lot of misinformation, it is important to share knowledge and expertise to a wide audience.
